Goodnight Scholars Program: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Alaina Peoples ’25: Hey y’all! My name is Alaina Peoples, and I’m majoring in Animal Science. I’m from a little town about an hour north of Raleigh called Henderson. Some of my favorite things to do are meet new people, listen to music, and make memories! I came into college planning on going to vet school, but I have recently grown an interest in working with cattle. One of my ultimate goals is to own and work on a ranch!
If you had to summarize your personality in one sentence, what would it say?
I really like to go about my days in a “silly goofy mood,” life’s too short to have a negative attitude.
What is one thing that surprised you about your first semester at NC State and within the Goodnight Scholars Program?
One thing that surprised me about my first semester at NC State is how easy it was to make friends. I came into college thinking that I was going to have a hard time making friends, but through this program, I have made a ton of friends and people I can count on!
What is a goal you have for next semester?
Next semester, I would like to continue to keep my GPA above a 3.5. I would also like to get to know some of my fellow Goodnight Scholars more!
Where is your favorite place to study on campus?
My favorite place to study on campus is D.H. Hill library. It’s generally pretty quiet and the dry erase tables are super cool!
What has your favorite part about the Goodnight Scholars Program been?
My favorite part about the Goodnight Scholars Program has been meeting all the new people! I have had the chance to meet all of my best friends through GSP, and I’m so thankful for this. The retreat at the beginning of the year provided a perfect opportunity to meet all kinds of new people that will be in my family for the next four years!
