GS Spotlight: Amin Mohamed

What inspired you to pursue your major, and how has your time at NC State shaped your academic journey?
From playing with scratch to Minecraft mods, I’ve been coding and playing with computers ever since I was little, so choosing Computer Science was natural to me. My time at NC State so far has solidified my decision as I’ve grown to fall in love with the Computer Science program here.

Can you share a moment when being a Goodnight Scholar made a meaningful impact on your college experience?
Going on mini field trips with the other Goodnights with Goodnight Explorers has made my college experience so much more fun and interesting. I’ve connected with Goodnights in different cohorts and visited places I never knew existed, even though I’m from Raleigh!

What are some of your personal passions or interests outside of academics, and how do they connect to your future goals?
I love designing and building websites from scratch, and it’s something I’ll definitely pursue professionally after graduating. As much as I love coding though, I love taking walks outside and playing the piano because it’s a nice break from the computer.

How has the Goodnight Scholars community supported you in your growth, both personally and professionally?
The Goodnight Scholars community has greatly helped with getting me career-ready through the connections it has provided me and by making sure my resume is as good as possible. The community has also helped bring my social side out. It’s always nice to visit the lounge and chat with other Goodnights!

What does ‘Pay It Forward’ mean to you, and how do you hope to give back to others in the future? To me, paying it forward means to use the opportunity I was fortunate to have to help improve the lives of others. I hope that one day I’ll build technology that makes a real impact on people’s lives all around the world.
