Each year, the Goodnight Scholarship Office recruits and selects new cohorts of scholars through a year-long outreach and selection process, culminating in Interview Day.
Goodnight Transfers Scholars Program Selection
One of the GTSP Strategic goals for this year was to create larger recruitment/outreach efforts in order to yield a larger pool of applicants. Through a variety of outreach events including tabling, virtual presentations, and lunch and learns, we were able to connect with 37 different Community Colleges. These efforts resulted in a 30% increase in applications, which surpassed our original goal of a 15% increase from last year.
On April 25th, the Goodnight Transfer Scholars Program invites more than 100 students from community colleges across North Carolina to participate in Interview Day. This experience gives prospective scholars the opportunity to learn about the Goodnight Transfer Scholars Program by connecting with current scholars, attending informative panels, and exploring the NC State community. Throughout the day, students also interview with alumni and campus partners, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences, aspirations, and the qualities that make them a strong fit for the program.

Goodnight Scholars Program Selection
The Goodnight Scholars Program is in its second year of expansion, welcoming 100 new scholars in each incoming class. With this growth, recruitment and outreach efforts have become essential to building a strong and diverse applicant pool. Through a variety of outreach initiatives, including tabling events, virtual presentations, and lunch-and-learns, the program successfully completed 52 recruitment events to engage prospective students and increase awareness of the opportunity.
On February 28th, the Goodnight Scholars Program welcomes approximately 180 high school students from across North Carolina to participate in Interview Day. As their first introduction to the Wolfpack community, this immersive experience allows prospective scholars to gain a deeper understanding of the program while beginning to envision themselves as part of the NC State community. Students engage with current scholars, attend informational panels, and explore the opportunities available through the university. Throughout the day, they also participate in interviews with alumni and campus partners, providing an opportunity to share their experiences, goals, and the unique qualities they would bring to the Goodnight Scholars Program.
Goodnight Outreach Ambassadors play a major role in the recruitment and outreach efforts for the Goodnight Programs. Outreach Ambassadors travel to high schools and community colleges to help spread the word about the offerings of our program. This year, GTSP and GSP Outreach Ambassadors participated in nearly 130 outreach events.
